If you are NOT required to attend Court, you may:
- Pay the citation in person prior to the court date during normal business hours, Monday-Friday 8:00am – 4:00pm
- Pay the citation via U.S. Mail by signing the “Guilty Plea” on the back of the blue copy of the citation and sending it along with a check, money order or a cashier’s check in the amount of the fine.

All request for continuance request MUST be completed in person, during business hours: no exceptions.
If you are Required to attend Court:
- Appear at Mayor’s Court on the date listed on the citation
If you fail to appear for your assign court date and fail to make arrangements, a warrant for his/her arrest and a license suspension will be imposed.
Mayor’s Court Plea Options:
- Guilty– Admitting guilt of the stated violation or offense and in most cases a fine is applied to include court costs.
- Not Guilty– Admitting no guilt for the stated violation or offense, in which a trial will be set for a future court date in which the defendant will have an opportunity for his or her attorney or as self-representation to question witnesses and/or officer(s) involved.
- No Contest –not an admission of guilt, but is an admission of the truth of the facts alleged in the complaint or ticket and such admission cannot be used against you in any subsequent civil or criminal proceedings.
Proof of Insurance
It is the law in the State of Ohio that everyone must provide proof of insurance when asked by a law enforcement officer. If you did not provide proof to the officer at the time of your stop, you must bring proof to your court appearance or before you pay your fine. Court Etiquette
- Be on time for court
- Shirt and Shoes are required; hats and sunglasses are to be removed before entering the court room
- All cell phones and pagers must be turned off before entering the court room
- Cases are generally called in the order in which they sign in
- No food or drinks are allowed in the court room
- No weapons are allowed in the building
